ISSUE 06: THE COMMUNITY ISSUE
Communities are built and nurtured thanks to the arduous and inspiring advocacy of the people within them. A sense of community can be found in anything and everything; each one woven by the threads that make the collective people simultaneously unique and similar.
In the case of basketball, there is the broad hoops community as a whole, and there are hundreds of micro-communities within it. Team and player-based fandoms, consumers, collectors, makers, diehards, casuals, and so many more all co-exist as biomes within the same ecosystem.
In our 6th issue, you’ll hear about: Bam Adebayo’s ascendenacy, and how he uses his power and platform to change lives; how international basketballer Alex Bunton leveraged her basketball community to survive trauma and abuse; Hanif Abdurraqib’s journey to becoming one of the greatest writers of our generation; basketball-focused artists Billy Kheel and Happy Life Wood; Myles Turner’s dedication to staying centered, and so much more.
As you read Issue 06, we welcome you into our basketball community. Get lost in it, celebrate it, join it. Thank you for supporting us. Digital is dead.
